Late in the evening, we tried to find a hotel in Jaipur, but the first 5 we tried were all full or refused us (because we are foreigners and they don't want the paperwork hastle!), but we eventually found a place in the area we wanted to be in and settled in. The next day, we met some English people we had seen previously at the fort, who were getting the same 7am train as us. After the 5 hour journey, we awoke just in time to grab our stuff and get off the train at our stop. After getting our bearings after our taxi ride, we walked to the clocktower to find a hotel. We got a room for £4, complete with own bathroom - bargain. After being told that there was a roof top restaurant, we climbed the many flights of stairs, only to find darkness and a great view of the fort lit up, towering over the blue city. We went for dinner at a restaurant across the road, owned by a jain family (so vegan food). Hugo had a pizza but wasn't feeling hun...

We arrived in Udaipur about 7am, to temperatures of 16 degrees! Fleeces on and pashmina out! We got a taxi to a hotel by the lake - the landscape was very different - much more rural, with mountains and dry bushes. The view from our hotel was lovely. So after a great time in Goa, we headed to the airport, laden with our backpacks once more, to catch our flight to Mumbai for diwali. We found a hotel, the cheapest we could (still £23.50 a night!), with no windows and shared bathroom. Mumbai is really expensive!
