The highlight of our trip to Huay Xai- Daauw House Kajsiab Project! was founded by a Dutch-Laos couple. Here they are building a centre at their home on the Laos Thai border town of Huay Xai, to encourage the empowerment of local women through cultural exchange, education and support in selling their art and craft work to prevent poverty. We stumbled across this place really because of a lovely American lady named Joyce who we had got talking to. You can homestay with the couple & their extended relatives or just volunteer for as little or as long as you like from helping large building projects get underway to teaching the local tribe people a little English. In return meals are provided, you can play with the kids, the family are warm and welcoming and you instantly feel like part of their family. We certainly learnt more from them than they did from us! Such a great time and the children were just adorable.
