Been having a few days off the bloghado so the next few will be short but sweet, I hope!
Wow, what a whirlwind of motorbikes! Saigon was, I guess, the 1st real fear of death by moto driver! But somehow we have managed to get across each road unscathed each time so far, usually by sticking like lue to a local as they brazenly march across the road.
We celebrated our 6 year anniversary in Saigon with a relaxing day seeing the sights of the city, posting our first parcel home and views from the tallest tower having a cocktail as the sun 'set' or more faded behind the rain clouds.
Also went to see the Cu Chi tunnels about an hour drive by bus from town. They were built as a means of cover and escape from the Americans when they invaded between 1955 and 1975. The tunnels were about 70 cm by 1m in size and so flipping hot! We went through a 100 Meter stretch of it and came out as if we'd just ran a marathon!
There was a cringe worthy documentary film made about the tunnels which had us in uncontrollably inappropriate giggles as the girl was` awarded 'Hero American killer' and other very one sided opinions on the war. Very enlightening though!
Had phô for the 1st time whilst in HCMC, which is like a noodle broth with chicken or beef and is probably Vietnam's most famous meal, usually eaten at breakfast! A new addition to the cook book although not sure it's going to become a regular part of 'breakfast' when we're home! Give me some muesli to start the day any day!
3 great days in Saigon came to an end and off we headed to Mui Ne on the east cost of Vietnam.
Love to all, Jojo x x x
