A four hour bus ride brought us to the coast again, and with it halong bay. My first thought was that Google images weren't doing this place justice. It was going to be a good few days.
We boarded a boat; our boat for a day and a night, and were introduced to Tuan, our tour guide of the 'booze cruise'. An amazing lunch (Ross got squid) and half an hour sunbathing, we arrived in the central bay area.
A trip around a gigantic cavern, the biggest I've ever seen, trip to the top of tip top island for stunning views and some time to kayak around the bay, day one was complete. All that was left now was the sunset party back on the boat, more squid for Ross, a few games of ring of fire (cheers Eva), and drunken trips up a ladder to the crows nest. A really great day at halong bay.
Day two took us to cove beach, a private bay with bungalows and turquoise waters. I spent 5 hours in the sea today and loved every second. Jo had a great time in her rubber ring in the sea too.
Sunbathing on a pontoon, kayaking to the next cove, volley ball on the beach, ping pong, beer pong, swimming with the phosphorescent plankton and the best day of my trip so far came to a drunken end.
We sailed away from Halong Bay and back to the pollution of Hanoi. Australian James entertained the bus for the duration, with the help of 1.5litres of booze...vodka stop!!
Back in Hanoi and off to the airport. Bangkok again. Bye bye Bernado, Ross, Eva, Jolijn and Ben. Safe trip, hopefully see your faces again.
