How many people can you fit in a Citroen Saxo? The answer...at least 7, and probably more if our bags weren't on the roof. Maybe we'd have been better jumping on the buses. Safely(ish) and quickly into Pokhara though.
If you've seen the shops in Kathmandu, you've also seen the shops in Pokhara. More rip off hiking clothes and knitted socks and hats gathering dust outside shops. We had a bit of stocking up to do before our trek. We wandered in and out of shops hunting for chocolates, walking poles, quick dry t-shirts, plasters and walking socks, all of which we bargained hard for of course.
Trekking permits and conservation passes pending until after the weekend, we thought we maybe ought to polish off the walking boots again and get a little afternoon hike in, for a bit of very last minute training. A sunny and hot day walking up to the world peace temple gave us a gorgeous view of Pokhara and over the lake and the odd gap in the distant clouds teased us with glimpses of the snow capped mountains. A short boat ride back to town and a couple of beers to watch the sun go down with a couple of Americans on the same travelling dream. The last beer for a while until we get back to Pokhara from the trek.
Permits and passes sorted we made an early start the following day and shared a taxi out to Nayapul.
Love Jo x
