Never again will we travel by night bus in India! Maybe it was just a particularly bad bus ride but... Top bunk bed swinging around; mosquito's; windey windey roads and almost falling off the bunk; an hour stop evey few hours; and ants (luckily none nippy ones though). Get us back on the train route!
Bleary eyed we walked in the morning peace and cool of Panaji town in Goa in search of accommodation. At 6am this was not so easy so we chilled on a street bench for a while before the Indians woke up. By 8am we were checked in and showered off ready for a quick power nap to see us through the day.
Planning on 2 nights in Panaji we quickly turned this into just the one as we ticked off the main things to do in an hour or two. This Portuguese built city and it's European buildings was scattered with churches and a cathedral. A quiet cake and drink in a bakery turned into not such a relaxing afternoon snack as the local 6th form boys gravitated in and turned the once peaceful bakery into a sweaty smelling, mountain dew mahem. Not having deodorant on hand to offer we drank up and carried on with the church tour.
A nice relaxing evening was spent planning our next bit of travelling with a kingfisher in hand looking over the river as the hoards of beeping mopeds and cars headed home. Treat night of burgers and chips at the same pub slipped down nicely!
