The first night was spent in Khan's rickshaw, hunting for the rare non-damp room. Bryn has somehow developed a chesty cold over the past 2 days. Goodness knows how in near 40°c heat. Anyway we forked out a full £10 for a decent hotel room and were treated like royalty for it. After taking up an hour of Khan's time we scrapped the agreed 30p for finding us a room and gave him £2 to which he immediately asked whether we wanted him to show us the sights tomorrow. Deal.
After a wonderful sleep in white linen sheets and a choice of 5 types of mood lighting we stretched, showered and wandered around the corner for breakfast. I say breakfast, what I mean is curry...
Khan (Romeo) was waiting outside the hotel when we got back, so we jumped in the auto and off we went for a day of sightseeing, shopping and incense sniffing. Romeo invited his mate along who was chief 'let's look at my other uncles silk shop' pusher. His name was Juliet. So, palaced out, templed up and over shopped we headed home with a wall hanging, cushion cover, Kashmir blanket and 2 Kashmir scarf's. Three days budget gone didn't deter us from heading out for kingfishers on a roof top bar with a view of the mess.
One uncles silk shop too many meant that we missed the zoo, so we had an extra day in Mysore. A 3km walk showed us a bigger variety of animals than any zoo I'd seen! Conditions were actually quite good for most animals, but seeing the ellies in such small pens was very upsetting! Not to mention the poor sloth bear. No more India zoos for us me thinks. Apparently Mysore zoo has the highest standard.
I was a poorly little chappy today so after dinner I got into bed (8pm) and with a few drops of olbas oil, slept for 12 hours straight, ready for Bangalore...
