2nd June -

Enjoyed the hotel breakfast which included dakos( stale bread square topped with a tomato and herb sauté and finished off with a generous helping sheep milk cheese) the cheese is very tasty. Was considering going to the beach but have had a lot of sun the last few days so maybe will give it a miss and walk the town inside. Walked around but very few shops were open as it was only 9am and most place don't open till 10 or 11am but the plus side is they stay open till late. Walked along the sea walls to the light house. The weather has turned windy so was great to sit on the wall and watch the choppy ocean. Walked back through town to the hotel and checked out at 12. Contuined to explore and stumped across a small cafe( oKwoias) lunch. they served Kontosouvli, a pork from the spit that nearly melted in my mouth. Walked to the bus station via the hotel to pick up my luggage and then caught the bus to the airport. Was the usual chaos at the bus station but I seem to be not worried about it now. Every bus eventually leaves with all it passengers on board. It might look like there is no system but something works out. arrived at the airport and got talking with a Canadian. After a couple of days with very little communication was nice to be able to talk english and it helped to pass the time as the plane was late leaving. It is one of the smaller planes I have been on. There are two little propellers and not a lot Elsa keeping me in the sky. I also like how it doesn't matter how small the plane and short the flight they still manage to always serve a snack and drink :)
Goodbye Crete and all your delicious food but am not sad to see the end of all the Germany and Russian couples P.D.As.
Slightly rough landing due to winds and small plane. Caught the metro into the city. Was thinking bus as it cheaper but then furthur to walk and my leg, I don't like to admit it are a little tired after yesterdays hike.
Checked into the hotel. I booked this before I left Australia not sure what I was thinking In dodgy area but I guess is close to where I have to be at 7am tomorrow. Walked to hostel to pick up my backpack that I left there and back to the hotel.
