Tom woke us at 5am, had some weetabix for breakfast.. it was the quickest thing to have out of the back of the trailer in the middle if the bush.
Another few hours driving to get to Ayers Rock (Uluru).
We arrived at Kata Tjuta - Uluru National Park at about 10am where we started into our 7.5km walk around Kata Tjuta. These are a group of dome shaped rocks beside Ayers Rock. The heat was worse than yesterday because there was no wind.. I drank about 2 litres of warm water while walking around the circuit! There is no luxury of getting cold water around here unless you buy a 1.5L bottle for about 6 dollars.. you would soon run out of money quickly if you were to buy cold water, so refilling bottles with warn water it is then..
We then went to the resort where we will be staying tonight Ayers Rock Resort also called Yulara... We had an open area where we would be camping in our swags.
We had lunch and went for a quick swim at the resort before heading back to the Park to visit the Aboriginal Cultural Museum at the base of Ayers Rock. It was so nice to freshen up and put on a change of clothes!
After the museum we took a short walk at the base of Uluru and listened to a few stories about Aboriginal life and traditions.
Off to the viewing point for sunset at Uluru, we cooked dinner first, chilli con Carne, pasta, rice and chicken & broccoli, I volunteered to do the cooking this evening, well heat it up! - nobody got food poisoning - I even cleaned up the pots after... my reward - a few glasses of red wine as the sunset disappeared.
Back to camp to set up our swags for the night and recharge my phone/camera at a power point!
