Day 1 - Christchurch to Lake Ohau. Early rise this morning to do and get the tour bus for the journey around the South Island of New Zealand. Met the tour guide, Emmo, bus driver Mikey Mike and the rest of the tour. We had a quick tour of Christchurch and then the bus made it's way down the east of the south island towards Lake Ohau. Up early enough to go Jungle Surfing in Daintree Rainforest this morning. This involves flying through the trees on ziplines and stopping at platforms along the way. There were fantastic views over Cape Trib and also out to the reef. The sun was shining this morning as well, and it was hot! This morning I was picked up from my hostel - Travellers Oasis, at 7.30am by the tour guide, Fraser. We collected the other 19 people and headed north of Cairns towards Cape Tribulation where "the rainforest meets the reef"! We had a few stops along the way.. Leaving Sydney and heading for Cairns today... on my own... Ahhhh. But before that, I have a bit of time for some sightseeing. Not much movement from me today! Mostly catching up on some sleep, tidying the apartment, doing some washing. In the evening, went to Chinatown for some food and then packed my bag as I was leaving for Cairns in the morning. Michelle, Richard and Jonathan are heading back to Perth.. then I'm on my own!
