NEW YEARS EVE
We walked from the apartment to Darlinghurst, had breakfast, well brunch at this stage, then walked to Kings Cross and down to Hyde Park for a bit of sightseeing. It was a lot of walking...
We were making our way to the Opera House but the streets nearby were blocked off with "ticket only" for New Years Eve celebrations. So we decided to head back to the apartment to get ready for our New Year celebrations!
Headed to the wharf in Darling Harbour at 6pm and boarded the Pacific Pearl. Finger food and drinks were awaiting our arrival!
The boat wasn't as packed as I had thought it would be. There were three floors and there were only about 150 people.
Our first drinks were laid out pn a table downstairs, blue and green alcopops.. once they were finished and believe me even though they were free there's only so much of them u can drink... after about 2 mouthfuls our mouths were blue!.. It was proper bar drinks for the rest of the night... which ended up being free too!
We had paid for about 3 rounds before we were told they were free.. the bar ran out of some mixers and we had blue wristbands on which meant we could get free drinks.. better late than never!
In the meantime, we had sailed out onto Darling Harbour and watched the sun set over the city. Our boat anchored right in front of the Sydney Harbour bridge.
At 9pm there were fireworks over the Bridge.. they were amazing, and we had another 3 hours before it was time for the main event - the midnight fireworks!
It got a bit windy up on top of the boat so we decided to go down below and have a bit of a boogie before midnight. There was a DJ inboard all night.
We sailed back towards Darling Harbour and then out towards Sydney Harbour going under the bridge and past the Opera House. Again we anchored in front of the bridge on the Opera House side. There were loads of boats in the harbour all waiting for the show!
It was unbelievable! Just standing there watching these amazing fireworks over the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and the city as well, there were firework all around us... 360 degrees!
Once they were over, we went back to Darling Harbour.. had a few drinks in the Helm bar and went home to bed... my feet were tired and sore! After all, I'd been standing in heels since 6pm...
I would absolutely definitely recommend a harbour cruise in Sydney for new years eve, it's well worth the money we paid!
You never know.. I might do it again in the next few years..
