A lie in was on the cards this morning followed by breakfast and mugs of tea until we decided what to do for the day.
On our scooter day earlier in the week we explored the north, so today we would explore the south.
Bums still slightly bruised from the dirt roads we chose a paved highway to start out on in the direction of some waterfalls.
We arrived at a grand Jurassic park style entrance and scooted our way through the gardens to the entrance.
Off the bike and on foot we climbed along side the stream for about 1Km until we could hear the thundering of water just around the corner.
It was impressive of first site but in all honesty it was nothing spectacular. The falls were about 9ft in height and 20ft wide. There was a pool of water at the base of the falls that we swam in. It was pretty cold but refreshing with the heat.
We then climbed on top of the falls and got to take a look over the edge but no jumping as the pool of water below was only a few feet deep.
Siobh tested her biking skills out in the parking lot, although they were good they were not suitable for the road!
Next was the 30km road south to Sao beach. It was long, hot, and bumpy!
Once there we had a little lunch break and relaxed on the beach. The beach was good, it was windy and had lots of water sports options. We opted to just sitting on a deck chair and watching everyone one else.
We took a different route back home and followed the west coastline the whole way. It was bumpy but was manageable.
We eventually got back to Tarmac and Siobh wanted to try the bike out again. This time she piloted the last 7km home. She didn't do bad but there was room for improvement.
Home, safe, and loaded with baked goodies from the bakery. Tea and cake was demolished sitting on our porch while the sun set in the distance.
We found the drunken monkey bar for a beer and a game of pool and went across the road with the locals for a BBQ dinner. More plastic dining furniture, cheep beers, fresh squid, prawns, spicy clam soup, and a whole fish. Siobh enjoyed socialising with the restaurant owner on the next table. We think they were drunk but it's very hard to tell with very friendly Vietnamese that speak no English. We get a lot of smiles, arm grabbing, and hair touching!?!?
Our last full day on Phu Quoc was over. We don't want to leave, we don't know why we are!?!?
Alarm clock set, 6.30am for the boat back to the mainland!
