Today was going to be a do nothing kind of day with another visit to the crab market. A morning budget update and check of cash bought concern as we had little local currency left and we knew that there wasn't an ATM let alone a bank in Kep! We managed to scrape by to pay the room bill and the tickets for our onward journey to the boarder where we could use the Vietnamese Dong that we had left from when we were in the north.
So today started as another travel day!
It was an easy hour to the boarder into Vietnam and into the Mekon delta. From Hat Tien we caught the boat to Phu Quoc. Another hour zooming along in the brand new high speed boat and we had made the 25km journey to our next island adventure.
We soon found a place to stay. Siobhan's negotiation skills were put to use and we got a bargain. We managed to get a brand new mini Spanish style villa, steps from the beach and complete with a very funky open air bathroom! As anyone can imagine Siobhan was over the moon, we literally are the first ones to sleep here. That means new bedding, towels, and a spanking clean bathroom!
We made use of the outdoor rain shower and unpacked our bags as we knew we would be here for a few more days than planned.
We headed to the beach and found perfection. Cool, mellow, surf vibe beach bars and restaurants jutting into the pristine white sand beach. Dinner was scoffed down sat at our table on the beach, sand between our toes and nothing but the sea in between us and the sunset on the horizon.
Once home (and it really felt like home) we sat in the hammock on our porch eating cookies and scouting out some plans for the next few days.
