Monday 13th March

We got up late today as we are at sea. d*** went & sat out on the Promenade Deck, as he felt pretty bad & Jane went for breakfast. The day was fine & the sea was calm.

d*** went to an excellent talk on 'The Death of Captain Cook' & Jane to Bridge class. d*** then went to bed for the rest of the day dozing & reading. Jane went to the Black Tie dinner & saw part of a show before returning late to bed.

Tuesday 14th March

At sea all day. d*** was still crook but went to Spanish & Jane to Bridge. Had a talk from an ex P & O Commodore about his life at sea.

Robin invited au both to dine at the Sindhu Restaurant specialising in Indian dishes which Jane enjoyed but d*** declined. He went to the last piano recital by Jonathan Wilson, all works by Schubert & they were far easier to appreciate.

Wednesday 15th March

Arrived at Lautoka, Fiji, on a very warm & humid morning. d*** was tired of his throat complaint & all the coughing so went to the Medical Centre for the second time in a week. After that we took a shuttle into the town, which was very much a South Sea island town, a little run down but everybody was very friendly. We returned to the ship in about 2 hours as we were both very tired after a terrible night of Dick’s coughing etc.

In the afternoon d*** went to see a very forgettable ‘Jack Reacher’ film.
