After leaving Milford Sound we stopped briefly at Invercargill on our way down to Bluff (the southernmost point of the South Island of New Zealand).
Whilst in Bluff we had to get the token picture of us next to the signpost with miles to London, New York, Tokyo, South Pole etc.
We went to Bluff with the intention of taking the ferry to the Stewart Island. However the weather in the South Island had been so bad that we decided not to go. We had heard from the locals that it wouldn't be much fun with all the rain and winds as the island is remote and most activities involved Kayaking or Trekking, so we gave it a miss.
We were kinda looking forward to it, although we had heard that people from Stewart Island can be a little strange. There are only about 400 of them and as the Billy Connoly joke goes, 'we may be divorced but we are still cousins', if you get my drift!
Next stop Catlins Coast
