After an exhausting day, we decided we needed some relaxation in the Marlborough wine region, which is at the top of the South Island. The area is named after the Duke Of Marlborough, hence one of the main towns is called Blenheim, which is where he lives in the UK.
Blenheim is quite a big town, and is pretty as it's surrounded by vineyards and year-round sunshine. The main reason for our stop though was to visit the Cloudy Bay vineyard, which is one of the best wines I've tasted back home. The wine is named after a bay on the east coast, named by Captain Cook.
Allison agreed to take driving responsibility, so we went in for a few wine tastings and left half an hour later with three bottles of wine.
Next stop, Kaikoura and whale watching.
