Hey Guys! After such a long gap between blogs we are now back on the move and updating regularly (we hope!)
We have spent the last 3 days in Adelaide, South Australia and its a little bit different to Melbourne! We spent 11 hours on a coach on order to reach Adelaide which was uncomfortable but cheap and arrived around 7am. Since we had only 3 days to explore Adelaide and all it had to offer we went straight out and did exactly that - explored!
They have an awesome Museum here which has loads of artifacts from Aboriginal tribes, as well as outer islands. It was really interesting to learn more about the Stolen Generation that we have heard so much about, but have not really had much knowledge of. We also checked out the Art Gallery, which also contained many Aboriginal works and then off to the river to watch the world pass by!
Adelaide is much more relaxed compared to Melbourne and some would call it slow, but it was really just a realxed and chilled atomosphere. We have also managed to see a couple of performances - something we did not acheive in melbourne! We saw a contemporary theatre peice called headlock, aimed for young adults and a dance group called Pilobolus who performed some absolutely amazing sequences! Some of the things they did were absolutely breathtaking!
On Friday we took a trip out to Glenelg, a little seaside town just outside of the main city. We ate fish and chips by the beach - which were yummy and had a wonder around the marina and along the pier. All in all a lovely day, although as with most seaside towns the main attraction is the beach and a few tourist shops, but it was still a pleasure to see a new beach!
The following day we caught up with our friend Mandy, who we met in the Cook Islands. She is currently working in a winery in the McLaren Vale region. She gave us an indepth behind-the-scenes tour of Wirra Wirra, the winery she worked on and then we went exploring some more wineries! It was really interesting to be able to refresh our knowledge of wines after our initial tour in napier all those months ago, but we still are not too keen on Red wine!
Overall Adelaide is a really lovely place. Its not the most bustling of cities, but after 3 months of hard work in melbourne we kind of needed a little bit of quiet contemplation time! The highlight was catching up with old friends and seeing some performances - i dont think we could list a low point!
We are now off to Alice Springs for our tour of the Red centre! How exciting! x
