Hiya,
We've been in Ko Phangan for a few days now, it is really quiet here its crazy. Phi Phi was peak season but its low season here even though its only few hours away and the weather is amazing so I don't understand it! Its quite nice though because its more cilled out and quiter than the last time I was here, which was for the full moon party and it was absolutley packed!
For our last 2 days in Phi Phi we dragged ourselves up early to do stuff. We hired a boat and wen to the island where they filmed the beach which was really good. I'd been there before and its all a bit battered now because its coming to the end of 6 months of constant visitors, in November it was more like paradise.
I booked a dive trip for the last day in Phi Phi and Lisa came along for the boat ride. I was really sea sick the second we got on the boat so I hated the journey but the dives were amazing. The first one was a wreck dive and it was so strange to go down and see loads of toilet cubicles at the bottom of the sea. We swam inside the boat which was a bit scary but it was all very professional so I felt safe. The we saw a whale shark which was about 5 metres long and had loads of fish hitchhiking a ride along beside it. They are REALLY rare and our dive supervisor was so excited that he was dancing underwater and hugging everyone. When we got out of the water it was all that everyone spoke about but I wasn't really that bothered, I get more excited about seeing Nemo or turtles!
The second dive was just a normal coral dive but it was amazing. There was tons of fish and I saw 2 nemos and about 10 eels. The diving was really good fun, its just s shame that the boat part kills me and I spend the whole time feeling like I'm going to die! When we get to the next island, Ko Tao, I'm going to do more diving because its really cheap there and supposed to be amazing.
We have had 2 nights in Ko Phangan now. We have been staying in a crazy room that looks like it is a converted hospital. Our room was tiled with mirrors the whole way round and our beds are up really high with pillows made of cement, plus it was boiling hot! I have a cold now as well as an infection in my gum and yesterday we just felt depressed and homesick so today we have moved to a brilliant hotel with a pool overlooking the sea and air con in our room. It is way beyod my budget but we are going to just stay there for 3 days with no drinking and just chill out so I can finally get better and then we will move back to basic living again!
We'll probably be moving to Ko Tao on Monday and stay there for a week then head back up to Bangkok to meet Mum and the travels can start all over again! I need some of mum/nans chicken soup today to make me feel better so I'll have to settle for some thai noodle and chicken soup instead!
Speak soon, enjoy the weekend xxx
