Hiya!
Well I'm here, arrived safely in New Zealand at midnight on Sunday. Was all sad after saying goodbye to Keon and not looking forward to travelling on my own again but the second I go to the hostel the girl in the next room invited me to the bar so I have a new friend. She's from Canada and staying in a hostel for the first time ever so it's pretty funny because she's shocked by the standards but its actually a really good one!
We stuck together all day today and went exploring Christchurch. It is supposed to be a city but it is probably smaller than Aylesbury so there isn't much to do. We went for breakfast and then went to a supermarket so I could show Stacy about budget shopping. She was amazed that we managed to buy dinner and breakfast for tomorrow for $2 each.
Then we went to the botanical gardens here which are supposed to be the best in the world but I think we didn't actually see the right part because all we saw were some trees! The river Avin runs through Christchurch and there was punting on the river which was pretty cool.
After that we went to the Canterbury Museum which had a few intersting bits of tribal art and stuff but that was about it. We are so glad that we only have a day in christchurch because that is definately all the time you need. I'm leaving tomorrow to fly up to Auckland and then I will probably start my Kiwi experience bus on Wednesday because I want to get to the exciting stuff like skydiving. I'm sick of walking around shops and stuff.
Our hostel is in Cathedral square which is supposed to be the most famous sqaure in New Zealand but its not very impressive. There has been lost of street performers there all day so Keon would have loved that because he's a street performer geek!
We just cooked some pasta for our diner and we are both craving chocolate but I am trying to have at least one day of being good. I am trying to make it my mission not to have a single Mc Donalds in New Zeakand because I had far too many in Oz so we'll have to see how that goes.
I need to be up at 6:45am tomorrow which is going to kill me, the earliest I have been up in weeks is 9am and that is a struggle!
Thats all my news for now, heres hoping that Auckland is a bit more exciting.
Ali, I hope you feel better soon!
