Hi,
I arrived in Auckland this morning and I was absolutely knackered. I couldn;t sleep at all last night and then I had to be up at 7am. The domestic flights in NZ and Oz are weird because its just like getting a train or something, you don't have to show any id and you just show up about 40mins before its supposed to leave.
I dropped my stuff off at the hostel and then went out for some lunch. I'm only here for one day so I had to get out exploring straight away even though I just wanted to sleep. I had lunch and then went along the harbour for a bit. Auckland is huge compared to Christchurch but still tiny for a capital city. Its actually got some skyscrapers and stuff though so its pretty cool.
I got a free city bus to the other side of the city and went to Albert park which is really nice and packed full of flowers. Its great here because there are a normal amount of flies but in OZ the flies drive everyone mad. They just land on your eye and don't move unless you whack them. Keon even managed to catch one in his hand the other day which I thought was very impressive!
I just chilled in the park for a bit and then went to 2 art galleries. They were free so I managed to keep to the budget today. Afterwards I went to Borders book shop for a bit and read some lonely planets on south east asia, so now I'm all excited about that even though I still have a couple of months to go!
I just cooked some pasta for my dinner and now I'm just going to watch a film in the tv room for a bit. I'm really sleepy and my tour starts at 8:30am tomorrow so I'm getting to bed early. I think its going to be a month of sleepless nights because this tour is supposed to be a bit of a party bus.
We're going to somewhere called Mercury bay tomorrow, but I'm not sure what there is to do there. Then we basically move to a new place everyday I think but if I want to stay somewhere longer then I just book to go on another bus whenever I want to leave which is really good.
I hope everybody is well xxx
