Hey!
I'm in Sydney and its cloudy and rainy!! What is that all about!? Got to the airport at 10pm and tried to check in but they said my ticket wasn't valid because I was originally supposed to travel on the 12th and then I changed it to the 1st. I had apparantly already changed this in England but it was all a lie so after much stressing and strange looks from the thai peoples they let me have another ticket for 700 baht AND then I had to pay another 700baht for airport tax because my other ticket hadn;t included it! I am going to write the hugest complaint letter ever to the s***ty sta travel company!
Anyway, I eventually got on my plane and it was delayed for 30 mins because about 50 indian people decided they didn;t mind keeping the plane waiting! Later on when I went to the toilet one of them asked if she could have my toothpaste after I had finished to keep as a souvenir and they keopt taking pics of me waiting for the loo! I don;t know why because everyone on the flight was white!!
The flight took 9 hours and I managed to sleep quite a bit and had some good food. I'm going to miss the thai food so much. I had a huge meal of spring rolls, pad thai and noodle soup before I left because I wanted a bit of everything for my last night and it all cost me about 2 pound!!
I arrived in Sydney at 1:30pm and it looks pretty dull. Could see the sydney harbour bridge and opera house from the plane but there doesn;t really seem like much else to do! Keon came to meet me at the airport and he is bored out of his mind becuase he has been waiting in Sydney for me for 10 days so we can travel together for a bit before he leaves after christmas.
Sydney is really expensive. I just booked into a 6 bed dorm room and it costs 20pound a night! It costs loads to eat and alcohol is crazy expensive. So far I can;t really see why people like Sydney so much, there really doesn;t seem like there is anything to do . The shopping bit looks exactly like market street in manchetser so its make\ing me miss home. I haven;t wanted to actually come home until now but this place seems lacking any excitment after Thailand. I keep going to say thank you in thai to people and then remembering where I am.
Me and Keon are just looking up how much it will cost to hire a campervan to spend a few weeks travelling the east coast of thailand. We really want to get out of Sydney. We were going to spend christmas here but apparantly they are really strict about you drinking on the beach and it is all english and irish people so we might as well be at home! The hunt is on for a nice beach with actual australians!
Speak soon guys,
Miss you x xxx
