Hi everyone,
Well I have been trapped in Sydney for much longer than expected. My passport didn't come back from the Inidian visa office in time so I had to change my flight to a week later which was really annoying. It made me pretty homesick because I thought I was leaving on Wednesday and instead I had another week to try and occupy myslef but without spending any money!
On Wednesday night we were supposed to be going out for a meal but everyone started cancelling and I didn't really want to go out but then I went into the reception of the hostel and bumped into someone from uni which cheered me up loads. I think I just needed to see someone from home. We all went out and got extremely drunk because it was there last night.
The next morning I felt absolutely awful and I had to get a ferry over to Manly because I had planned to meet up with Elaine's friend who moved out here years ago. I made over in one piece, just about, and Elisa was very good at trying to help me recover. We went for some really nice fish and chips and then for walk by the beach, it was a really nice day and I went straight to sleep the second I got back to the hostel!
Yesterday I went on a trip with the hostel to Palm beach which is where they film Home and Away. It's a really nice beach and quite far away from the city center so nobody really goes there which meant the beach was empty. Its a really fancy area with gorgeous houses on the waterfront which all cost at least $2million! We all had some cheesy pictures outside the surfshack but other than that they don't really make a big deal about it being where they film the programme. I thought you'd be able to buy souvenirs or something but there was nothing there at all!
Last night I went out for a meal because my friend Sarah is leaving to go back to England today. It was really nice to eat a meal in a proper restaurant, Mc Donalds is about the only place that backpackers can afford to eat out and its so cheap that its hard to resist! Afterwards we went to a really cheesy bar which is just like a uni bar. There was a foam party which was very funny and there was a lot of dancing!
Today I went to pick up my passport which I was VERY happy to get back in my hand so now I know that I'm definatley leaving on Tuesday for Singapore which is very exciting. I had to go and get my final hepetitus injection too which ended up costing me $200 even though in England its free, I was completely gutted! You have to pay a fortune here just to get in a doctors office, I will appreciate doctors at home so much more now. One of my friends at the hostel has a problem with her tooth and its going to cost $1400 to sort it out but in England it would only cost her 200pounds!! I'm just praying that nothing happens to me because I'd just have to pull my tooth out myself!
My friend from Fiji has changed all her flights to come and meet me in Sydney on Sunday for 2 days and then she's going to try and get on my flight to Sinagpore. I'm so excited that shes coming and it will occupy my last 2 days in Sydney because we'll be running around so she can see the whole city. Then after a few days in Singapore we'll be flying to Thailand, its all go from now on!
Speak soon xxxx
