Today we left Mantaray Island which was sad as it was such a lovely island and the staff were lovely, one guy called Ava even learnt our names, remembered them and greeted us every morning 'hallo nina' which made me smile! When we went to the village the day before we filmed a little girl singing, her auntie works on our island so I went and showed her the video which she was delighted with! 'Thank you my friend'
Our next island was Korovou. We arrived about midday, just in time for lunch! A couple who we met at the previous island were there which was lovely, and there was also a girl which we had met on the first island we had been too. That afternoon on Korovou was spent sunbathing, reading and looking out at sea. It's a very quiet resort, I was on the beach at about 4pm writing my diary and I was the only one of the beach!
That evening we went on a sunset boat ride, 4 girls who we had met on the first island were on the boat and we made 2 new friends who will be on the next island we go to when we arrive! This boat cruise was lovely, they drove us around the coast a little then stopped and gave us all a drink and then 2 guys sang and played the guitar whilst the sun went down, times like that make me realise how lucky I am to be travelling! Our boat driver seemed to be drinking a lot so we were relieved when another guy drove us back (via stopping at a very posh looking yacht for mr drunk guy to invite them to a bonfire on the beach, I certainly would not go to a bonfire if I was on a yacht like that!)
Dinner was a lovely 3 course dinner served on decking right next to the beach!
30.09.13 Today I got up early and went for a walk along the beach. It's so nice being awake before anyone else because the whole beach was mine to do sit ups and push ups on (the running went out the window after day 1)! After breakfast we went to watch a guy climb to the top of a coconut tree and then come down upside down! They clearly have too much time on their hands on this island! It was impressive to see though! Our entertainment guy is called Ziggy and has the best English accent! All the staff at this island have learnt our names which is lovely because I everytime they see you they use your name, which I think is a lovely personal touch! This morning we made bracelets and bookmarks out of leaves! This was quite fun and after sitting on a beach for a while it is nice to be occupied by something! This afternoon we chatted to all the newcomers, it's so lovely how easy it is to meet new people and find out about everyone's stories and listen to their tales of their travels!
This evening was funny! After dinner, the staff taught us the Bula welcome song which was great fun. We then played a game which made me so uncomfortably awkward! All the girls made a circle and then the guys made a circle around us, when the music was on we had to make our way around the circle but girls and guys going in opposite directions. Once the music stopped Ziggy would shout out 2 body parts, the first would be the male body part and the 2nd would be for the females, these two body parts had to touch, the last guy and girl to do this were out. It started off okay with 'elbow/armpit' and then when it got closer to the final it was things like 'nose/bum', on that round I seemed to have two noses on my bottom, I think everyone felt as uncomfortable as each other! I spent most of the game with my hands over my face thinking that might make me feel less awkward, nope! Unfortunately I got to the final so had many awkward moments along the way! But it did make me laugh a lot!!
After that we did crab racing which I had never done before! I dropped crab number 8 before we had even begun so swiftly put him back in the pot for someone else to choose, needless to say he was out in the first round! Fliss and I shared a crab, sadly it only lasted a few rounds but it was great fun!
