Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
Finally we have a day without rain. We packed up and went for a drive back to Salmon Hole but it was far too cold and windy to hang around. I am disappointed I didn't swim in the Pool of Siloam (it is 7 times saltier than the ocean) but it was too cold with the miserable weather.
We decided to have a go driving through Canunda National Park via Southend to check out the beach and Number 2 Rocks, but the track turned into sand and we were towing the camper, so we headed south to the middle entrance.
The track again turned into sand but was firmer. So we continued through the dunes about 2 or 3 kms until we got stuck trying to climb a dune. We couldn't move forward or backwards, and having no low range made it even worse. We ended up dumping about 160 litres of water from the car and camper and let the tyres down even more. The recover tracks have saved us once again! We could have easily been stuck there for quite some time, but we were able to get out in just a few attempts.
We headed back to the entrance and headed south to the Carpenter Rocks entrance. On the way we passed the Lake Bonney Wind Farm and I have never seen so many windmills. They just went on forever, it was quite amazing.
We dropped the camper off this time and headed in again, but the track was slow going and with both fuel tanks nearly empty we decided not to risk it.
So we headed straight to Mount Gambier, set up at the showgrounds and went out for a nice well deserved pub dinner. We went to the South Eastern, a great place to go if you have kids with an awesome playroom and meals were good value.
This caught our attention driving through Millicent.
