Katie, Annie & Nikki's Travels
Hello everyone, sorry we've not written in a while, we've been very busy in Thailand... lying on beaches takes up a lot of time and energy!! :o)
Well we are actually in Melbourne now but we thought since we haven't written in about a month we'd give you a round up of what we got up to in Thailand....
Well after our horrendous ferry journey (which we soon learnt wasn't going to be our last!) we spent a couple of days in Chaweng Beach just doing the usual... becoming champion bat and ball players, chillin our beans on the beach and drinking, which was truly blissful!!
We then moved on to Ko Phangna, where the infamous full moon party is held. Because it was the full moon party all the accommodation on the whole island was pretty much fully booked... except this gorgeous place called Blue Hill, which was just slightly out of our budget but what could we do, we couldn't very well sleep on the beach (well we could have but we didn't want too!) so we HAD TO stay there! We had the most stunning view from our bungalow (the photos don't do it justice!) and the nicest pool which looked out to sea! The only problem was that's you had to walk up a million stairs, which really wasn't that bad, apart from when the friendly Thai staff strike up conversation half way up!! Talking and stepping is just too hard...we looked like panting dogs! Not attractive!!
The full moon party was wicked, there was over 8000 people partying on the beach. If anyone is planning on going to Thailand they should try and get to the full moon party!! There were lots of crazy people dressed up, some guys were just walking around in speedos!?! European wierdos (ha, only messin) We did get a photo of them, however we looked a bit worse for wear so subsequently haven't put them up!!
The day after the Full Moon was a nightmare, for some reason we thought it would be a good day to travel back to Ko Samui!?!?! Resulting in our worst travel day ever!!!! We had to sit waiting for an hour at the ferry port in the boiling heat with the worst hangover, looking like zombies... it was kinda funny though coz everyone else around us was looking the same or they were still pissed! Then we had to face a rocky ferry journey... and after that we both got squashed into the front of a taxi, I was almost sat on the driver!! Not a fun journey. People always ask us what we've learnt from our travels.....my answer is... never to travel on a hangover day!!
We spent the rest of our time in Chaweng beach, Ko Samui, before we went up to meet Alison (Anna's sister) and Emma in Bangkok. It was so exciting to see them! We took them out around Patpong, where all the ladyboys hang out and down Ko San road, where we had many a cheap cocktail!!
We also visited the floating market, which is just out of Bangkok. That was an experience... was very interesting to see what life is like away from the tourist areas. We jumped aboard one of the little Thai boats and some poor old Thai lady had to row us 4 lumps around the markets!! Also the Thai people had those funny triangle hats on, which are dam good for keeping the sun off you!! Alison bought one and paraded around, the Thai people were very impressed with her.
We went to China Town one night, which were a crazy place, lots of things going on and lots and lots of random food stalls. We didn't actually try anything as we decided to be really cultural and go to the Hard Rock Café for tea. MMmmmmmmmm we had fajitas!! We thought we would treat ourselves seen as though it was Alison and Emma's last night with us till Melbourne and we had been eating 20p rice for the last week!!
Once Emma and Alison had gone we just pottered around Koah San road, where there are so many random stalls selling absolutely everything... we bought 2 sets of juggling balls! You have a lot of spare time on your hands when you're traveling on a budget!! We also had races in the pool with those floaty things you get when you're learning to swim.... Anna won most of the races.... I did win once, although I may have cheated!! :o)
Just a random observation but Thai people are fascinated with playing cards. We just assumed they have them all over the world... We were playing a few games in the airport and the Thai people walking past kept stopping and watching, and pointing us out to their friends! How strange!!
Anyway I think I've gone on for long enough... we've had another wicked time in Thailand and will definitely be coming back... but don't worry mother Wrice and Wragg it won't be on this trip!!
We won't leave it as long next time till we write a journal, as we are going to meet the neighbours cast tonight so we'll have plenty to tell.
Hope everyone is well... and leave us some messages on our board please :o)
