Katie, Annie & Nikki's Travels
Hello! We are in Singapore at the moment and we love it! Its a really nice country, very clean and modern...we've spent a fortune though!!
The last part of our travels in Malaysia we spent in Meleka - a little place in the South. It was nice but quite small and there wasn't really much to do. We probably spent 75% of our time looking for a shop that sold alcohol! (it was a small muslim town and there wasn't much of it anywhere!!).
Singapore is wicked though. We went out on Orchid road which is a bit like Oxford street in London. We met some random rich folk who took us to this club, got us in for free because they owned the club and then bought us some beverages!!! ;-)
Yesterday we visited Sentosa island which is the southern most point of continental Asia. There's loads to do on the island - we were told by a couple we met to have a go on the 'luge' which we thought was located inside this fort...so, we paid to go inside the fort, thinking yeah we'll just go so we can go on the luge (because we were a bit hung over and couldn't really be arsed to look around the fort to be quite honest!!) .....however, after we had paid we decided to look at the map and we realised they were nowhere near eachother!! So, here we were on this lovely island- a beach, an underwater world, a skyride....and we were there in 37 degree heat trapsing round a bloody forge with a thousand steps to view anything worth seeing! We weren't too happy! Haha, in the end though it did turn out to be quite interesting!!
The luge was good too, we sat in these little go karts and raced down the hill and then went back up it in a chair lift! Was pretty fun, although the helmets were a bit of an eyesore!
At night we went on the 'Night Safari'.... this was really cool, we got to see lions, tigers, hippos, rhinos etc in their nocturnal setting! We went round on this safari limo thing, it was really good. The hyenas were massive! It was kind of strange aswell to know that there was only a ditch between you and the animals! None of them were caged in!
Today we have been for Sunday brunch at a very posh expensive hotel! We decided to take one day out and just completely blow our budget! The food was soo nice....free flowing champagne as well, which we naturally took full advantage of!! It all had a New Zealand theme to it, there was even New Zealand tribal dancers to entertain us! They also had this little live band that went round to each table and performed a little song...they sang pretty women to us pies (what else??!!)
Tonight we plan on visiting the famous Raffles hotel for a traditional 'Singapore Sling' !
Tommorow we fly to Australia which we can't wait for, we are all so excited! Mainly because we get to see Vicky - an important slice of our pie!!!
We'll keep you updated from there sports! xxx
LANCE!!!!!
Yo yo yo, just us again! Me and Ninny had the funniest night in Raffles! We got lost on the way there so decided to get a taxi...whilst looking for the taxi rank we were approached by this random guy who seemed nice at first, wanting to show us where the taxi rank was etc....however little did we know that he would not only actually take us to Raffles but that he would also stay with us ALL night! We just couldn't get rid of the dude! It was so funny though- he was like a walking encyclopedia, it was freaky - he knew everything about england but also believed the stupidist things! He was fascinated by us! He was like 'what do you have for breakfast' and 'have you ever had a fight..isn't england really rough? i've heard you get beat up just walking down the road ?'...he was so bizarre! ' He kept repeating everything we said aswell! He was a typical singaporian geek...yey -we pulled! He even said to Nin- 'Äh, you're so cute...you're so chubby!' Anyways, we just thought we would tell you our funny little story! Raffles hotel was very nice also, there was a really good band playing upstairs so we stayed for many a singapore sling! xx
