Nikki's World Travels
Well i arrived in Mui Ne and thought what the hell am i doing here!! It is a very small place but stretches 11km down 1 - yes i wrote that right 1 street! I check into the 1st backpack place i can find as not luggin my stuff down 3km of road to find somewhere and i wasnt gettin on a moto with that bad still attached to my back as that now is a death wish. I decided to walk down to an area marked on the map with a few things around like restaurnats and cafes etc - so i start walkin......and walking........and walking.....i shouldve had one of those sticks with the hankies tied to the end as i really felt like the lone traveller in middle of butt f*** nowhere (sorry bout the swearin there!). I finally arrive at civilisation about 1hr 30mins later and start my search for a new hostel - i couldnt find one for under $9 so thought to hell with it! I did in the end walk down to the sailing club which was another 1hr down the road - then started to head back to the hotel when the heavens opened so i rsiked life and limb (not that bad really) and got a moto back - he went bloody fast but quite fun at the same time. I did actually manage to meet some people in my hostel so 4 of us (1 brit, 1 swede, 1 aussie) went for some food and played pool too.
The next day i'd booked a sand dune tour ( the only thing to do here in mui ne) but unfortuantely i overslept - doh and missed it! So i complained with the cafe place and they wanted me to pay like $3 extra to go the next day but that was half of the price so i argued my case quite well and in the end they gave in and agreed i could go the next day - no extra charge - yay me!
So that day i did nothing - just slept - but in the evenin i met up with Vic and Ruth who had come that day and found out stayin at same hostel as me as i changed earlier that day so i wasnt so far out on my own. They seemed pretty pissed off too that they left Nha Trang for this crappy place so arranged to leave the next day like i was doing.
The next day we all headed out in a jeep for the sand dunes - we were able to sand board down them and i was the 1st to go as it didnt look too bad and it was real fun but got sand everywhere - me and vic tried to race but i was going a lil too quick for my likin so dug the board into the sand to slow down a bit but unfortunately i dug it in too much and ended up leavin the board in the sand while i happily continued down - sand in mouth and all - oh im so elegant! So thankfully that was the end of mui ne as got the bus at about 1 to head to saigon!
