Gday mate - well you can guess that now im in OZ but i havent written bout singapore yet so here goes............... So i arrived in singapore from Melaka and decided to check into a hostel for the 1st nite as couldnt be arsed to find my parents hotel and was tired anyway so i thought that booking ahead was maybe the best idea for the 1st time so i booked a hostel next to the bus stop. But i got off and walked up and down the bloody street as i couldnt find the stupid place and nobody had heard of it. I finally got the directions of my mum and due to my dyslexia (emma and ali know what i mean - i havent really got it but sometimes i swear i do!!!) i mixed up my left and right and walked the wrong way for 15mins or so with my backpack on my back and front and then it decides to piss it down. now when i say it rained i dont mean the slight drizzly rain we get in cardiff i mean a torrential pour down so i was somewhat a lil wet and walking in the wrong direction. After a while i realized my stupidity and walked 20mins the other way to the hostel! In the meantime my parents hotel reservation was messed up and was not on the comp so they transferred them (by BMW!!) to the next door hotel so the next day when they checked in they were treated like royalty as they messed up and gave them a deluxe suite!! Of course as i was stayin on the same floor as them i was allocated an executive room!!! What luxury! And we got free breakfasts, some free drinks etc. Those of you who know us Marshalls will know that we are quite jammy at getting free upgrades in hotels without paying for them (does the Ritz carlton, naples ring a bell to anyone??!!!) So we had a good time checking out singapore, went to the night safari, on the cable cars which my mum hated so me and dad being the sensitive people we are just laughed and took fotos! Also went up the river boat and visited the Asian Civilisations Museum (yes we can be cultural at times) But obviously we did do some shopping (not loads as not enough room in backpack) but i did my dads credit card justice for the week! I met up with Yiling a girl i met in koh tao so went for some drinks with her and her friends in this q groovy lil bar which played really random but great old school brit hits! But i ordered a pint that cost me $18 singapore dollars - what a rip off!!!! Me and dad went up the sky tower (for free - again jammy Marshalls - it must be our appeal!!) but ma stayed on the ground (woss!!) but saw some pretty good sites from the top including Indonesia. So we ended up stayin in the city for 3 nites and on sentosa island for 3 nites to top up the tan! However, one nite we tried to get back from orchard road on the mainland to the island but couldnt get a taxi for love or money. I wanted to queue on the main street which was a long queue but was going q quickly due to steady stream of taxis, however, those of you that know my dad will know that Mr I K Marshall does not like to queue and thinks he knows where the taixs will be (must be his psychic ability!!) so we got on the metro, then walked, then stood in a queue for taxi for 45mins as they was no steady stream like the other queue - so me being a lil madam was "i told you so" - i love being right!!! Anyway, ill probably edit this at some point and put more in it as cant remember at mo what we did etc as just had a 4hr flight to Darwin then 1 hour wait then a 2 hr flight to Cairns so im a lil tired - not even sure what day we are on let alone what month (any suggestions can be emailed to me!!) love me xxx P.S thanks mum and dad for eveything in Sinapore - had a lovely relaxing time! Ok here's some extra stuff. We saw a giant lizard now when i mean giant it was like 4 times the size of my cat (which is a big cat anyway!) but we only saw it from the hotel room - apprently they only come out of the holes in the ground when its cooler. Anyway these lizards are q funky tjings and have a slow steady strut of a walk so i was determined to find another one but couldnt! We visited the butterfly farm and saw lots of lil pretty flutterby's, ate in chinatown a couple of nites, ate the biggest cheesecake ive ever seen (it was delicious and of course i was able to finish it off!) Well now i think that is all - if ma can think of anything else ive missed out here email me and ill edit it again! Tomo im off diving in great barrier reef as have booked my advanced diving course but ill write all about that when i write me first oz postcard! x
