so we got to hue at 10.30 after the night train and i managed to sleep pretty well so felt q refreshed. We got off the train into a sea of people tryin to get us to stay in their hostels but we found the one we wanted and the guy drove us free of charge there. We settled in then bought a ticket for the DMZ tour. We went to find the citadel - a massive area of old capital buildings but we took the wrong road no thanks to the bloody cyclo driver who wanted us to get lost so we would give in and ask him for a ride but insteasd we were being stubborn and found an internet cafe instead and looked at a map! We walked round the whole outside wall to teh back entrance to find that is was for motor vehicules only! So walked all the way round to the front - i was dyin in that heat by the time we got there. But it was beauitful remainders of building s as the US bombed the site in the war so there is not much left. In the evenin we went to some veggie restaurant that the lonely planet had recommended but the menu looked s*** and it was empty so we left so dont always trust lonely planet as sometimes it lies! The next day we ahd to get up at 5 top go on the DMZ tour but the bus didnt arrive til 7.40 so not very happy bout that. The tour was good as saw the demarcation line being the ben hai river and the area around which was bombed we also saw and went down some tunnels that people livede in during the war and never left til it finished - 19 babies were born down the tunnels - amazing! They were quite small with low ceilings but no prob for me as im a short arse! The rest of the tour was a lil disappointing as it wasnt that interestin as the guide's english wasnt that great so didnt understand alot of the history etc. We also went past some tribal villages which were q similar to the village that i was in - bit smaller but the same struture of bamboo hut. We saw an old US base but the tour was too long - we didnt get back til 7 and sp[ent most of the day on the bus. We went out in the evenin with some brits from the tour but so tired that went back early as another early start tomo to get to Hoi An. Bye bye for now nikki xxx
