Early wake up at 5:15 and in the taxi by 5:30 off to the airport. Checked in had some food and faffed about at the airport, then quick plane ride to kuala lumpur, landing just past 10.
Got the train to the central station, then taxi out into town, however he was unable to find the hostel sophie had booked so took us back to central, we then went back out in another taxi with much more success!!
Checked into hostel, at 13:30 then crashed hard, 5:15 wake ups are not for me!! Slept through until 17:00, then forced myself up!! Wanted to explore our local area, and maybe go to Chinatown which is said to be pretty cool (according to the free map from the hostel) Sophie is keen to find a phone repair shop though...
Found an apple shop pretty quick in one mall, they directed us to another mall, where the apple repair place is. Went there, but apple won't touch water damaged phones, so went to a non-apple repair guy, who walked us through the mall and took us to a different stall, which said it would have a go. Sophie also got her other phone fixed at the same time (cracked screen and broken home button) which they were much more confident about fixing.
Insane though, we have barely walked 10 mins from our hostel and already been in 2 major malls (each way bigger than Cabot or the mall). Clearly Kuala Lumpur is a place for shopping, ill have to try to reign in sophie over the next few days, or ill spend my whole time in shopping malls (although tbh it doesn't look like there is much else to do in KL, perhaps botanical garden, and definitely want to check out Chinatown). Will have to do a bit of research later.
Went for some food at a nearby food street, very nice, but unfortunately slightly aniseedy, but I ate it down, didn't want to waste it (and I was hungry).
Then me and sophie went for a walk to the KL tower then to the Petronas towers. At the Petronas towers there was a really good fountain display timed to music. Sophie got some food and drink at a nearby restaurant, but I was trying to conserve funds :-(
Wandered back to the hostel an read then went to bed, no socialising for me, just needed a chilled night.
