Woke up at 7:30 to start getting used to the early wake-ups as we'll have to be doing when diving. Went down to the dive centre, Harry and Romina already there working away!!
Harry showed me his boat and gave a refresher on using an outboard engine. Then he headed off to the other centre, I had some breakfast and chilled for a bit, then started watching the videos about dive theory, very long and quite dry, with lots of repetition. Also, out if context (i.e. me never having touched scuba gear before) seemed quite complex, but I'm sure once we start learning properly it'll all make much more sense.
Had some lunch then went for a snorkel off the nearby beach, real nice coral and fish pretty close, quite wavey, but not horrific. Chilled for a bit then Harry came back with a student to do his final exam. Before he sat it we had lunch, me, Harry and Romina piled into Harry's little boat and headed out into choppy conditions, engine cut out a few times as it hasn't been run in a while, quite hairy out in the rough waters with no engine and only one small paddle! But he got it going again fine.
Got to the lunch place off the 'main road' literally a concrete track about 1.5m wide! Only road on this part of the island, an it doesn't even reach Harry's place (you have to boat or jungle trek) or connect onto the road on the other side in Tekek!
Had lunch then back to Panuba (the resort Harry's dive centre is in). Chilled while Harry's student did his final exam, I wanted to go snorkelling, but the others convinced me not to just to conserve my foot a bit for diving tomorrow :-(
Once Harry was done, me him an sophie took his boat out to a restruant/bar place called sunset bar (Romina couldn't come as she was doing a night dive again). Had a really nice pizza and a few beers, stayed for an hour or two then got takeaway pizza for Romina and headed back. Stayed up till 10ish drinking and playing cards, then off to bed for an good start diving tomorrow :-)
