Boofa and i woke up early to get into a huge day of sight seeing, we were on the train by 7.30 to hit the Notre Dame at 8. Notre Dame de Paris (IPA: [nɔtʁ dam də paʁi]; French for Our Lady of Paris),
The Notre Dame is another huge cathedral that has been made famous by the movie "the hunch back of Notre Dame", they were going to destroy the church before the movie made it a must see site.
Next on the list of must see's is The Musée du Louvre (French pronunciation: [myze dy luvʁ]), or officially Grand Louvre, it is one of the world's largest museums, the most visited art museum in the world and a historic monument. Nearly 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 19th century are exhibited over an area of 60,600 square metres (652,300 square feet).
The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace (Palais du Louvre) which began as a fortress built in the late 12th century under Philip II. The building was extended many times to form the present Louvre Palace. In 1682, Louis XIV chose the Palace of Versailles for his household, leaving the Louvre primarily as a place to display the royal collection, including, from 1692, a collection of antique sculpture.[4] In 1692, the building was occupied by the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres and the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, which in 1699 held the first of a series of salons. The Académie remained at the Louvre for 100 years.[5] During the French Revolution, the National Assembly decreed that the Louvre should be used as a museum, to display the nation's masterpieces. This is where Boof is in the photo. We spent 3 hours in there losing ourselves in all the history and just getting lost, it's like a maize in there lol! We saw famous paintings from Leonardo Di Vinci, his famous Mona Lisa and statues from Michaelanglo.
We then walked on the out skirts of the champs Elysee the famous shopping area passing all the glitz and glamour, enjoying a banana and natalla crepe on our way to Arc De Triomphe. It was a big walk and my feet where killing, dam shoes, but I couldn't look daggy in Paris lol! We got to the Arc and the line up was huge to go up it, so we just took pictures and onto the next thing.
We took the train from the Arc to the Opera house, first time we had sat down all day, felt so good. The Oprah house was stunning with white marble floors and chandeliers every where. This is where the inspiration for phantom of the opera came from.
Our last stop for the day before our picnic at the Eiffel tower was tour Montparnasse 56. I think it is the tallest building in Paris and it gives 360 degree views of the city. It has been an over cast day, raining on and off so the views are not as stunning as they would have been on a clear day or even night time would have been better with all the lights. It was still good to see though.
We caught the train to the gardens near the Eiffel tower, absolutely b*****ed. Just as we started to eat our picnic it started to rain but it was all good we were all so excited and on a high from the days events.
The Eiffel Tower (French: La Tour Eiffel, [tuʁ ɛfɛl], nickname La dame de fer, the iron lady) Built in 1889, it has become both a global icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris[10] and the most-visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every.
The tower stands 324 metres (1,063 ft),
The tower has three levels for visitors. Tickets can be purchased to ascend, by stairs or lift, to the first and second levels. The walk from ground level to the first level is over 300 steps, as is the walk from the first to the second level. The third and highest level is accessible only by elevator. Both the first and second levels feature restaurants. We didn't get a chance to climb it but we certainly did admire it from a distance.
After our feast we had to get changed in the bus, girls first. It was so funny, who would have thought you would be getting half naked in Paris right near the Eiffel tower with a group of chicks lol!! After the boys were dressed it was all a board and off to the Parisian cabaret but not before a quick beer at a near by pub. Well the Cabaret was different, lots of boobs and butts and a few gay men. It wasn't great should have gone to moulage roug, next time!
