On our way to Croatia we stop off in Slovenia at the Postojna caves, these caves are the largest and the most visited in Europe. The most beautiful passages were discovered in 1818 by locals. These caves are limestone caves with stalactites, they are pretty awesome to see. They are such slow growing masterpieces with only growing 0.1-0.3 millimeters a year, the oldest in Postojna are some 100,000 years old. There are also all sorts of animals that live in the cave, one in particular is a proteus it looks like Matt's Mexican walking fish lol. Bill you will be happy with me I told some****es off for taking pictures, your nit allowed to as it kills the stalactites. It was good fun, we jumped on a open air train down into the cave then walked for about an hour learning all about them and discovering all the different chambers, the white chamber, the spaghetti chamber etc. Solvenia was beautiful driving into so I lookforward to spending a night there in a couple of days.
Driving into Croatia was beautiful as we winded our way around the coast line, then over this huge bridge that took us to KRK island. It's like a huge holiday resort area. We checked into our hotel then quickly got out togs on and into that beautiful blue/green refreshing water, it's a lovely warm day so was great to be able to enjoy it by the beach. It's a fairly rugged coast line with mainly rocks than sand, but still easy enough to get in and out. That night Owen made a punch to have a beach party but it was gorse so party bit of a flop lol. I was pretty tired though so good to have a half early night.
