Today we decided to go to a less populated area for a beach that our lonely planet guide recommended. We packed a rucksack and jumped on the moped then headed for Kata. The bike ride was lovely, the weather was hot, about 35 degrees, and the cool breeze was just what we needed. We found the beach after only one wrong turn and although there were still quite a few people and sun beds there it was much more beautiful than Patong and much less crowded. We picked two sun beds and settled down for Vincent’s tanning routine, 10 minutes on front and back then 5 minutes on each side. Apparently this gives you a great and even tan. As usual I didn’t tan much but it was very relaxing and the swim in the sea was great fun. I always manage to half drown myself by ignoring a big wave and getting bowled over. After we had been in the sea a bi I thought we could exfoliate our skin by sitting in the edge of the sea and letting the sand wash over us. It would have worked fine but the current was strong and we kept being knocked over and we both got lots of sand in our swim suits.
After the swim we relaxed for a bit, ate an egg sandwich then Vincent decided he wanted to try having a massage, he’d never had one before. We went up to the group of Thai ladies doing Thai massage and booked Aloe Vera rub downs. The massage was lovely and they cracked all our fingers and toes for us as well as rubbing away all the knots.
It was the perfect relaxing day until we tried to go home. The edge of the beach was a hotel that was no entry to non guests so we walked along to where we though the bike was only we couldn’t find the road. After a long walk all the way up the beach we couldn’t find it so headed back thinking we’d missed the road. We had and it was right back next to where the sunbeds were!
