Today we spent the day at Nimbin. It turned out to be a lovely hippie type commune village with everyone all pottering around the main street selling organic veg and fruit and naturally made clothes. We found they had a laundry there too and so for only a few dollars we could wash our dirty clothes and sheets. We chilled out in the hot sun on the grass outside the laundry and bought a blueberry smoothie from their organic cafe. The washing was dried in a dryer so the van didn’t smell but the hot sun made sure it was really nice and clean and dry in the van, now all we had to do was find a way to wash ourselves again!
With a wash in mind we decided to head for the gold coast late that after noon as it was getting cloudy and we wanted to find somewhere to stop for the evening. We made it up to Surfer’s Paradise, which we thought would be a lovely beach. It was a lovely beach but it was so lovely that it had been made into a little Miami, i.e. it was highly over developed with skyscrapers and expensive Bistros and no free parking! Off we went again and headed a bit further North to a national park called Venman National Park where we once again looked for Koalas with no luck and then found a quiet carp ark that said it was locked at 5pm but being 6.30 and still open we decided to camp the night. We have done 2517 kilometres so far.
