Queenstown is awesome! We arrived in
Queenstown after watching some people off our bus do a 43m bridge bungee jump. At first only one girl off the bus was set to do it and whilst we were watching another 10 or so people signed up! To be honest after watching it for 2 hours I was even considering it at one point. It is the smallest bungee in queenstown and I think if you don't look down and just do it after they count you down it seemed ok! Saying that one girl went and stood on the ledge twice and couldn't bring herself to jump! If I was one of the guides I probably would have pushed her off the edge, as she was up there for 15/20 minutes a time!
We arrived in queenstown and I went for a walk around and had an early night. It was a bit lame if I'm honest but I'm getting old and im not used to all these early starts on the bus! Those that know me well will know I struggled
Getting into work for 8am!
Queenstown is based on a beautiful lake and has a skyline car you get go up on and see views of the whole town. Sophie decided she was going to hike the mountain which took about 7 hours and I decided that there was no way I was going to do that! Fiona was waaaay to hungover to even think about it so we went for lunch on the waterfront and then got the cable car up, which was terrifying and we sat at the top for ages looking at he view and droning cider. At the top of the mountain is another bungee and bungee swing and whilst we were there we saw out friend do the bungee! That one looked terrifying as you are held on by your waist so a lot of people do somersaults off the platform.
The nightlife in queenstown is awesome and we went on a bar crawl one night
And by far my favourite place was where you had to wear onesies in the bar. I was a zebra, Soph and elephant, Fiona the Cookie Monster and I met an American frog called Jerold. Soooo much fun that I didn't have a drink in that bar as we were too busy taking photos. Then me, Soph and Jerold spent the next hour busting out some crazy dance moves in the next club (no onesies in that club :( )
During my time in queenstown I walked around the lake and the park and generally chilled out. The weather was hit and miss unfortunately. I saw people playing frisbee golf (new one on me) but you generally throw frisbee into metal containers which is the golf hole part. And also as I was in queenstown i tried a world famous fergburger. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Amaze. A boy in my room has been in queenstown 6 days and had 7 burgers. Crazzzzzzy!!
We stayed in an 8 bed dorm there and I knew 3 of the girls and the other 4 people id never met. Let's just say it was one of the more random dorm experiences. Also I said goodbye to Elin and Johanna in queenstown and they were off to oz. it's strange making all new friends and travelling with them for so long and then everyone going there different ways. There was more of that to come.
After the disappointment of not doing the ice climb in Franz Josef, queenstown definitely cheered us all back up again! I loved it!
