We haven't left the vineyard in 2 weeks, and Katie and I are getting a little stir crazy so we decided to try to get a cab into town instead of waiting for someone to take us. It is Saturday night after all and tomorrow we get to sleep an hour later We asked Jose Luis in our simple Spanish if he could call us one. This seemed to confuse him, he didn't understand why we wanted to go to town, and we think he said he would call one. Sure enough an hour later, Bruno arrived in a taxi that looked like a clown car, and we made the 40 minute drive over a dirt road so bumpy you come up out of the seat every 5 seconds. But we didn't care! We were going to town! Once there, we found a restaurant and sat outside to watch the happenings of Rivera. This didn't include too much, people here love to just sit on the side of the road with their car radio on, sipping mate until it's time to go out at midnight. Unable to stay that late and witness the "going out time", we had dulce de leche ice cream and Bruno picked us back up and took us home.
