A normal days diet here consists of a lot of meat, rice, bread, and wine. Despite being on a farm, they just don't have a lot of love for vegetables. Because of this Katie and I decided to add jogging to our day of manual labor to offset the effects of a meat and wine diet. Since by the end of the 11 hour day, we are less motivated, we decided to start getting up at 6:30 to jog unfortunately in the pitch black, as we are in the country and it's dirt roads and no street lights. Yesterday as we were running and trying not to trip I heard sounds like a UFO was landing. And because I couldn't see anything but 2 feet in front of me I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was. I yelled to Katie but she had headphones on. It stopped after a few minutes but left me utterly confused why I was hearing unnatural sounds in the country while everyone was sleeping. Too chicken to investigate so I guess I'll never know.
Today Katie decided not to jog so I was alone. The road we run on is a 2 mile long dirt road up and down hills, through the cattle and sheep pastures, that leads out to the main road. The cows always stare at us as we pass and sometimes follow us a bit so, although it is a little peculiar, I didn't think anything of it when halfway down the cows started following me. Well all of a sudden a couple of the bulls started chasing me, and charged at me. I was running but then realized that these are cows, so I stopped and not knowing what else to do I yelled at them and made Humberto's laughing noise, which stopped them in their tracks. More confidently, and now a little angry, I kept yelling and finally they ran off. Toto showed up to save the day shortly after. I decided to run at night.
