Yesterday we spent all day wandering the Ipanema Beach. You can literally get anything you want at the beach,chairs, umbrellas, drinks served to you,jewellery, ice cream, sarongs, dresses, bikinis you name it they have it! After spending all day in the sun we sat and drank some piña coladas and watched the sun set before meeting Sophie for dinner at a Brazilian BBQ. Let's just say in one sitting no person should ever eat that much meat....but it was delicious! To help digest our meat after dinner we walked to the Lagoa to see the largest floating Christmas Tree in the world (a small reminder Christmas is coming and that means it is winter at home). We finished the night off with a coconut water straight out of the coconut along the beach.
Today we set out to explore Santa Teresa....not much exploring was necessary. Everyone told us we should head there but when we arrived (after getting lost with the cab driver) it was about two blocks with 3 cafés and 4 stores...we braved the bus back to Copacabana and walked in the water, today was the hottest day I've ever experienced in my life! Last on our list for Rio was flip flop shopping....which was a big success!
Tonight we headed to the Copacabana Palace for a swanky drink....we are now listening to a major thunderstorm and packing up to head to Buzios tomorrow.
