We arrived in Colombo in the morning; Suhanya's aunt picked us up from the airport who she hadn't seen for 15 years! When we arrived at the apartment we met Suhanya's grandma who was even shorter than Suhanya!
One day we went to the cinema with Suhanya's cousins to see a film called "Fashion". The cinema was much nicer than the one in India. The following day we went to Suhanya's aunts' house for lunch. She made a feast to eat with so many curries, one of them being yummy crab curry which was amazing! mmmm
Suhanya:
On the Saturday my uncle picked me up and took me back to his house. Later that day my cousins, uncle and I went to see the Independent Square. Outside there was a man who had a snake. People were holding it and taking photos; my uncle asked whether I wanted to hold it but I said, "no way!" My cousin Visahan was much more enthusiastic about it though and held the snake. After we drove around and saw the townhall and parliament from afar. There is a lake around parliament therefore we couldn't go close. On the Sunday we all went to the Ice Cream Parlor called Carnival, I remember going there when I was younger and thinking that it was amazing! I got a sundae which had chocolate chip and pistachio ice cream with chocolate sauce, cherry, whipped cream and cake! It was amazingly yummy. Mmmm yummy chocolate!
One day we planned to go to a museum however it wasn't so easy to find; we went in an auto rickshaw. At the first place we stopped there was on old moat however we only saw overgrown grass and weeds! We spoke to a person to find out if they knew where the museum was, but he didn't know, all he said was that the place we were at was now known as the mosquito kingdom! On the next stop we came across some ruins which we later found out was an old cemetery. Finally after asking someone on the street if they knew where the museum was we found it! After all that the museum wasn't even that interesting, it has old coins, china and old clothes! On the way back from the museum we stopped at a coconut stall. I was drinking the coconut when suddenly my cousin pushed me into the stall and some of my coconut juice spilled on me. When I looked around to see what was going on, there were 2 guys fighting. My cousins' shoe was left in the street and my aunt nearly fell into the coconuts at the stall!
On the weekend I played cricket in the garden with my cousins and uncle which was fun but I was pretty scared when my cousin was balling to me as the first time he hit me with the ball! On Christmas Eve I left Srilanka to go to Sydney.
