On Christmas day Suhanya flew to Sydney in an A380 and was asked twice how old she was as the air hostess thought she was underage to drink. Nicole arrived in Sydney from Brisbane too. We went for a meal with Suhanya's family. The following day we went to the Jenolan caves in a convertible thanks to Suhanya's uncle Murali. We went to the Chifley caves and we held this magic stone. After the caves we went to the scenic world in the Blue Mountains. The weather was amazing for it with blue skies. We went on a railway ride, which was really steep, and safety didn't seem to be considered either! We saw the 3 Sisters and the Katoomba falls when we went on a cable car. We later drove to Echo point Suhanya started to walk down these stairs but then later realised it would take 2.5hrs so came back up, Suhanya was not ready for another mini trek!On the Monday we went to the Sydney Aquarium, which was cool. We saw Dugongs, which are a mix of a mermaid and sharks, and there are only 5 in the world. They had a Great Barrier Reef section, which was amazing, the fish were so colourful. The following day we went on a cruise round the Sydney harbour. It was really windy but sunny. We had great views of the Opera house and the Sydney Bridge. We went up to Watsons bay and near Tarongo zoo. After the cruise we went to the botanical gardens, which was really pretty. They had a rose garden, which smelt and looked so nice. On New Years Eve we went to Milsom's point, which is across the harbour bridge to watch the fireworks with a bottle of wine. Just before watching the family fireworks a man gave us a glass f champagne as him and his wife were not able to finish the bottle. We felt like posh ladies dressed up drinking champagne. The family fireworks were good but just a taster for the main ones at midnight. We met a lady called Julie who was sitting next to us. She was about 70 yrs old. After the fireworks she was telling us that she heard on the radio that there was meant to be a spaceship coming across the sky at 9.37pm or 9.53pm. We thought she was pretty loopy from that comment. Then after she said she was going to smoke some marijuana, we were both shocked but amused. After we finished our wine we went into the park to watch the main fireworks. The fireworks were amazing and definitely the best ones we had seen ever! (We'll hopefully put a video up soon of them). After the fireworks we walked across the Sydney harbour bridge, which had a great view of the city at night. On the train home this drunken European girl fell asleep on Suhanya's shoulder and there was this guy who was sleeping on a shoe! On the Friday we though f being cultural and visit some museums. We went to the museum of contempory art, which was interesting. There was an exhibition of manicans without heads in different poses, which looked like porn. After we went to the Rocks and went to a museum there, which told us about the history of Australia. Then we went to an observatory place, which had a view of the city; sadly it was cloudy that day. On the Sunday Suhanya went to the National Maratine museum and went on the submarine and Destroyer. She felt pretty clostrophic on the submarine though. The submarine was interesting but definitely not a place you would want to live in for ages! On the Monday we went up the Sydney tower, the weather was amazing hat day so we had a great view of the city and the landmarks. After we went on the OZtech experience which was really cool. We saw clips from the outback, Sydney's city, the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforest. Then we went on a simulation ride around OZ, which included Ayers rock. In the afternoon we went to Bondi beach, which was full of tourists. It was 41C that day however the water was freezing but we jumped in the waves, which was fun and refreshing.
The next day we got the ferry to Manly and went on a walk around the beach, which was relaxing. Later we met Rosy and Phil who are our friends from Bath. We went to a chocolate cafe, which smelt yummy, mmmmm. Nicole had a chocolate brownie which was really chocolately and nice and Suhanya had a waffle with chocolate drizzled over the top. We definitely had our chocolate fix that day! It was great to catch up with rosy and Phil too. After saying bye to them we went to watch the sunset then heading back home.
A few days later we went to the Chinese garden of friendship which was really cool and we hd jasmine tea and Dim sum. On the Friday Suhanya met up with her friend Saran from London and walked around Sydney harbour and went into the Opera house.
On the weekend Suhanya spent it with her aunt and cousin. On the Satuday she went to see the Fitzroy waterfall and then went to Kiama, which is famour for its' Blow hole. Unfortunately because of the low tide and calm sea water did not come through the hole so it just looked like a rock with a hole in the middle. In the town there were cows which were decorated like the pigs in Bath. On the Sunday Suhanya went to Tarongo zoo which was an awesome zoo with so many animals and things to see.
