We arrived in Penang late on a Monday night however we managed to find a nice, clean hotel quite easily called Star lodge. However the next day Suhanya saw a few cockroaches coming from the bathroom, that night we were trying to catch one with Nicole ending up hitting it with her shoe!
In the morning we went around Penang and saw this chocolate boutique. We went inside to have a look, however a lady working there latched onto us and took us around the shop describing the different chocolates and let us have a taste of them. However we were not planning on buying any so at the end when she wasn't looking we made a quick exit.
The following day we went to Penang hill and saw the view over the city. After we went to see the Kek Lok Si temple; however on the way it started to rain heavily and we got drenched. We thought we couldnt actually get mroe wet so continued to the temple. There was a massive laughing buddha in the temple.
The following day Mel joined us in Pengang and we went to see a reclining buddha, underneath the buddha were urns with peoples' ashes in which was freaky! The buddha in Bangkok was much more impressive too. Later on that day Nicole and Suhanya went to the Komptar to book our ticket to Kuala Lumpur. There was a shopping mall in the area so we thought we'd have a look. While we were walking around we both noticed a cafe called Secret Recipe and inside there were 3 rows of cakes! We both couldnt resist and went inside to look. We purchased a chocolate cheesecake and a chocolate indulgence cake. They were definitly the best chocolate cakes we had eaten on the whole trip. It felt like we were in heaven! mmmm
The next day we took another bus journey and went to Kuala Lumpur. We went on a walking tour from the Lonely Planet and went to Little India. You could tell that you were in Little India because of the curry smell on many saree shops! That night we went to see the Menara KL which is the 4th tallest communications tower in the world and is 421m high. The view over the city was amazing however because it was at night it was slightly hard to spot some of the sights which were mentioned on our radio commentry.
Early next morning we went to queue for tickets to go up the Patronas twin towers. The view was amazing but we only had 8 mintues on the bridge! After we went shopping in the Suria shopping centre. IT was amazing, they had all the normal shops we have in England and they had the biggest christmas tree we had ever seen! After shopping we went to the KL convention centre. The park was really nice and it had a big paddling pool with a waterfall.
On ou rlast day in Malaysia we went to the Lakeside gardens and saw the ASEAN Sculpture garden, some of the scultures were pretty random and we felt that we could have made more interesting ones! We saw Malaysias' National monument and an edible garden. Sadly it wasn't the season so we couldn't try any of the vegetables. When we were sitting on a bench we had these Japanese ladies coming over to us. Suhanya thought they wanted us to take a photo of them however they actually wanted a photo with the both of us.
