Hi, just a quick entry to say that we are now on White Beach, Borocay Island, which is absolutely gorgeous. Met a couple of Philipino blokes on the ferry over who sorted us out a room right on the beach, we literally step outside our front door and the beach is about 3 paces away. Only problem is that Michael has been ill ever since we got here with a bad stomach bug. Had to go to the doctors today to get various medication so hopefully that will kick in soon as we have to fly on the 1st.... He can only eat apples and bananas too so will be fading away pretty soon, he's most gutted about not being able to drink alcohol for 10 days while he finishes his pills though! So he hasn't been able to stray far from the room which is a shame as we wanted to look around the island.
Since we left Clarke quick smart the day after the last journal, we have spent a LOT of time on rickety old buses and jeepneys getting around the mountain areas in the north to see the 2000 year old rice terraces. Did quite a bit of trekking around those areas and also saw hanging coffins around the village of Sagada where the locals have a tradition of attching coffins to the edge of the limestone cliffs around or wedging them into any crevices they find in the cliffs. Very strange. They also have a tradition in those areas of sitting the dead in a 'death chair' outside their house for a couple of days with family sitting by them so that their soul has easy access to wherever it goes or something like that. Luckily we didn't see any evidence of that while we were there! Really nice area, despite all the travel.
Then we got a cheap flight down to Borocay where we are now and i'm just about to try and book our next flight to another island. Bit of a pain getting around with there being thousands of island making up the country, especially as we only have 3 weeks but luckily there are lots of cheap airlines, just have to spend time looking around on the net.
