Hi, since Michael last wrote we did an excellent 3 day tour along the Mekong Delta to get to Cambodia. Really enjoyed travelling down the narrow streams going past the small villages with stilt houses over the water and everyone waving to us as we went past, both in Vietnam and in Cambodia. Especially the children, they were so excited and running down to the rivers edge jumping up and down waving and blowing kisses. The kids were all playing in the water which to us looked so brown you wouldn't dream of going near it but the locals swear by it for good skin and hair and use it for everything apart from drinking apparantly.
We then spent 3 nights in Phnom Phen, the first 2 days of which there was a water festival going on so it was absolutely packed with people down by the river. Literally thousands of Cambodians swarm there from all over the country to see the boat racing in the days and fireworks in the evening. Meant that the main tourist attractions were closed so we had to wait til the day we were leaving to visit the palace etc. The other day we were there we visited the Killing Fields and S21 prison which was where thousands of people were tortured and then killed during the Khmer Rouge which only took place about 30 years ago. Pretty disturbing day which left us both feeling not good.
We then travelled to Sihanoukville yesterday which is a really nice beach resort and our room is right on the beach for $5 a night. Met Graham this morning so have spent the day on the beach with him and he is now playing pool with Michael in a bar across the street...
Going on a boat trip tomorrow to some of the surrounding islands to do a bit of snorkelling so that will hopefully be good as the sea is gorgeous and clear. Me and Michael are then going to go on to Siem Riep and Graham will go to Phnom Phen and meet up with us later on in Thailand probably.
Hopefully will be some more pics on the site soon as the first China cd has finally made it back to Suzanne.
