Day 1
Arrived last night, grabbed some food and had an early night. Decided to explore the island by hiring a moke for the day (called 'oscar'). We toured the island visiting loads of different beaches and bays. Had fun in some massive waves at Alma bay before going onto horseshoe bay for lunch. From here we treked to two different bays which were not accesible by car, on route we spotted a wild koala in the tree! One of these bays turned out to be a naturists beach - white bottoms on show. We next went on a fort walk which was about 1.5hours trek up to higher ground which gave us spectacular views of the whole island. On this trek we were educated about World War 2. On route back down to Oscar we also spotted a mummy and baby koala chilling in the trees. In the evening we took Oscar out for a spin to see Magnetic Island by night - this could have been costly for two Koalas who at different times decided to cross the road infront of Oscar. Some quick reactions from Charlotte fortunatly prevented Koala murder! Thank god! Once we got back to our hostel we were reunited with our Newcastle friends who had just arrived so we caught up over some drinks at the bar.
Day 2
Started the day with an engligh fry up which was delicious! Then spent the rest of the day playing in the waves at Alma bay and chilled down at Geoffery bay. By night we drank some goon (australian cheap wine) with the Newcastle girls in their room (illegally!) before venturing down to continue drinking at the bar.
Day 3
Checked out of our hostel and caught the ferry back to Townsville where we jumped back on our OZ experinece bus which took us to Airlie beach via local pubs in the middle of nowhere which was entertaining as one of them had a drunken local thinking he was Robbie Williams.
