Hey people.
Site was down earlier...no idea why. Had a bit of a busy day today - bloody knackered. Uploading some pictures now.
Went out last night for a drink with this American guy Jonah, and 2 Canadians, Liam and Caroline. I said that I could take them to this bar I read in the guestbook was good...but unfortunately I couldn't. We ended up going to some proper traditional Japanese bar down an alley and watching baseball, whilst having deep talks about American politics.
We asked for the larger that was on the wall because it was the only one we knew. He got out this massive bottle (like 750ml) and I was disappointed when he gave us each a glass that was like 1/3 of a pint...
Kept trying to have conversations with the barman, who didn't speak a word of English, so you can imagine how that turned out.
Then ended up playing a****** with an Italian guy called Michael, an American called John and a Dutch girl who I still can't remember the name of so I call her Frodo. (She hits me a lot )
Japan is really cool, I love it. People are so friendly, especially around Subways where they will help you get anywhere. There are so many cute girls its UNBELIEVEABLE . This country has vending machines for everything all over the place. The roads are a bit mental aswell...if the green man is on then theres still nothing stopping a car nearly knocking you down.
Started off the day by going out with Jonah to Asakusa and booking my Ferry to China - I leave a week on Friday. The cute woman serving us didn't speak much English either so it took a while. She ended up using a translator on the computer which didn't always work. "Please give number contact you if change still incase" but we got the gist.
We then grabbed some food in a local place and I got this boiled egg in a bowl...It was clam cold and very very runny. Practically raw - I tried it and nearly threw up...I ended up sharing Jonah's beef and rice which was smashing.
Then went to the Senso-ji Temple which was pretty neat. Had a huge steet of souvenir stalls before you got there, but the buildings and the way the Japanese prayed to this shrine was amazing.
We then headed to Ikebukuro and went to Sunshine City - This massive building, 60 floors high. it had lots of shops, resturants and offices. Went to the observation tower - The view is amazing! And there are supposedly a lot better.
Also went into the Toyota building and had a go on a safety driving simulator which was cool - seat moved about like crazy.
Headed to Shinjinku next where we went to the Tokyo Government Metropolitan Office. They are twin towers with great architecture. Went up to the observation tower there aswell and got another good view.
On the way to Shinjinku this elderly Japanese gentleman helped us find the way and gave us good directions - his English was really good! We ended up discussing American, English and Japanese politics...whats with all these politics talks I don't really care.
Tokyo is so well linked by the subway its great. Fairly cheap comparative with the rest of Tokyo aswell. Not sure what I'm going to do tommorow, might go to Roppongi for a night out.
Keep leaving messages, its cool.
Talk to you all later.
