Yo people.
So, Shanhai is pretty cool. As first I wasnt too keen, and I think I still prefer Japan, but China definately has a character to it.
So yestarday I just go for a walk down the main street called Nanjing Road...very long. Levels of English in China aren't great, but people on the street just say the same thing OVER and OVER. "Hello sir, you want shoes, DVD, watch, clothes, bag?" It reminded me a bit of Kenya because people try everywhere.
I went through Remnin Park/People Sqaure which is a lovely park in the middle of Shaghai City Centre. It's so quiet and peaceful it's weird, because above the tree-line you can see Skyscrapers!
Went to Shaghai museum because I heard it was better than most museums. It furthur confirmed that I find all musuems boring, and I wasn't there long, no matter how hard I tried to be cultural.
On the night I go to the bar and get talking to this big group of people who are all teaching English in China. We end up going out to this Mexican bar which was cool as they did free tequilla every hour where you just stand with your mouth open and some hot barmaid pours the tequilla shot in.
We also got some weird Middle Asian pipe thing...forgot what its called but it has quite a nice taste.
When we got back to the hostel about 4am I was hungry so went with an Irish girl called Sarah to buy some street food. I got 6 sticks with meat on them...skewers? Only 2 yuan each (like 7p). It's asking for food poisoning because they re-heat it, and got only knows what animal it is (I think lamb, but probabally cat).
Got up late and went to the Old Town today. Its mental, its just shops everywhere, all selling the same stuff. The buildings look old, but then you see a McDs and shops everywhere and it isn't so old anymore, but still good for a walk.
Bascially, in the French Concession and West Nanjing Road, you get shops like Prada and Gucci - Everywhere else you just get stall after stall selling DVDs, clothes, watches, bags, jewelery and cheap sunglasses. Just absolutely everywhere. It's fun though. Crossing the roads is suicidal aswell. You just have to step out and hope they stop...fun
I'm gonna upload all the pics from Osaka, the Ferry and Shanghai now, so check them out.
