Hey everyone
Beijing is pretty cool. Mental capital city of the most populated country in the world...and I've just been on the metro in Friday evening rush hour a week before the olympics...oh my god, I've never seen trains so packed.
So I got here on Wednesday night and went out to buy a new rucksack (the one I bought in Guangzhou for only 40 yuan (about 2.50) broke in less than 1 day (not suprisingly) so I bought a good one this time.
These 2cute Chinese girls started talking to me and asked if I wanted to go for a coffee. So I did and they took me to this nearby tea house which was small, empty and looked expensive. We got a couple of beers, a pot of tea (turned out to be the best tea in China) and a snakc thing...which in total came to 30 pounds! I couldn't f***ing believe it. I'd had one cup of tea, one bottle of beer and one of these tiny snack things.
I ended up paying 250 (About 16 quid) and the girls payed 100 each. I got absolutely robbed!n I've been in Asia for a while andI've been so careful not to get ripped off for anything (remember I got a bottle of petrol sucked out of a motorbike because they wouldnt pay me enough for it?) but I got well and truely screwed (and not in the good way...)
Anyway Thursday I went to Tiamamen Sqaure (biggest public square in the world) and saw some Chinese leaders' preserved body in the memorial hall in the square. Then I went to the Forbidden City which was massive and a really cool place to walk around.
In the evening, I met up with Amelie's friend (Amelie is the girl I just spent 2 weeks with in Guangzhou) who had bought my $500 train ticket for me (of course I'd given her the money). As I was waiting for her, I rang her, and she asked me what I was wearing so she could spot me. I told her to look for the ONLY white person in a 500m radius.
As I was waiting, everytime I saw a pretty girl alone approaching I got excited, and every time some munter walked near I prayed she wouldnt talk to me. Rita ended up being a pretty girl, but not my type...plus I've only just left her best friend and something tells me it would be immoral...
So I took her for dinner to say thankyou for getting my train ticket and I had the famous ROast Peking duck and we ate loads in a nice place for just 4.50 quid. We were talking and she's 24, and has never drank alcohol. She said its not uncommon for Chinese girls.
So I felt it my duity to take her to a bar...she'd never even been in a bar or club before! So we get in a taxi and he takes us to this bar district. We have a nice drink outside this one bar, and then go to a bar/club for another. 2 vodka & coke's later she was f***ed...It was quite funny. Was that wrong? Haha...
Today I went with 2 American guys, Paul and Brian, and climbed the Great Wall of China. It's very impressive, and we walked out 2.5km to the furthest tower you could reach from Badaling. It was hot, incredibally steep, and we are all vbery unfit. BUt we made it and got some great pictures and a sense of accomplishment. My legs feel like Jelly now.
Tonight I'm either watching movies, or going out. And tommorow I'm going to the summer palace, then catching the 7 day, 6 night train all the way to Moscow - so this will be my last blog entry (bar something major happening tommorow) until I get to Moscow on August 1st.
I'm going to miss Asia - It's cheap, you're a celebrity because your white (the amount of strangers photos I've been in is crazy), and I'm sorry, but Asian girls are the hottest girls in the world. And because your white, they all like you. It'll be strange to go from loads of beautiful girls, who are all interested in you, to just a bunch of white girls, most of who aren't interested in you anyway...
I'm looking forward to a good pizza...and barbeque sauce.
(And friends, family etc...) Haha
Talk to you in August
So she gave me my train ticket, and I toki
