Round the World in 155 Days!
Meet up with James and Vicky at Greymouth, We pull up alongside them and their luxury camper. It is amazing it has lights, heating and everything!! We both park up at lake Komire for the night where me and Vic go from feeing like we are 8 again and camping in Woolacombe to mysteriously taking to the rolls of Jean and Christine with shout across the vans of "do you want a cup of tea" and "can we use your toaster" it is very strange but really nice.
Head down Highway 6 in convoy and pass through amazing scenery. We arrive at Fraz Josef and walk to the glacier- Nick and James walk up it further but me and Vic opt for a choc chip cookies and a gossip and head back to the vans. Camp up at Mapirika but after tea we all want some chocolate so paper, scissor, stone it for who has to drive back to town ........ we all pile into the TA, stop at the shop and the pub. Next day head to the Fox Glacer and book up walk on the ice which is brilliant. It's a really clear day so the snow capped mountains look great, and to top my enjoyment on the day Nick doesn't quite find his 'ice legs' and is the only one in the group to fall over!! Luckily we find an ice cave which is an amazing blue colour and we all get to walk through, it's a good job we have crampons on because its really slippy. We are all really glad to get or boots off when we gat back and have the best Hot Chocolate ever.
We camp at lake Matherson (mirror lake) and have a night of cards in the luxury camper with Jams and Vicky. In the morning we have great views of the lake and walk around - when we get back J&V head off to Milford Sounds and we arrange to Meet in Queenstown. We hit the road towards Wanaka and check out a couple of waterfalls and drive through the most stunning scenery. Lake Hawea is particularly good and stop to take some snaps and end up taking a Israeli and his radiator in to town. Wanaka is a nice small town and as it is the autumn the tress look amazing and it is the festival of colour because of all the oranges, yellows and the blues of the water and sky - its really warm in the day but freezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing at night!!!
