I had the usual first nights sleep after jet lag, so after only two hours after feeling dog tired was wide awake. I was able to get back to sleep until about 4:30 and I heard Molly moving about around five but she had been reading for a while.
Around 6am I set of for a run, not as easy as it is at home when you're staying on the side of a mountain. I ran for about 40 minutes although the final climb I thought would be too much, too soon.
On returning to the house about 7, everyone was up. We had breakfast and said goodbye to Lynn and Lyndon who were off to work.
For our first real day of holiday we didn't want to rush around so Lynn had suggested Deep Cove only about 20 minutes away, so Molly,Tracy,Bill,Enda and I set off in the car.
Deep Cove reminded Tracy and I of a cross between the towns on Murder She Wrote and Jaws. We found a great coffer shop for maple doughnuts and cinnamon swirls. We wandered down to the cove to watch the kayak lessons then over to what looked like a park. Tracy and Ed sat down on a bench to talk while Molly and I, closely followed by Bill, made our way through the woodland. The gravel path went up and very steeply down bring us close to the waters edge. The choice was the two wooden sets of steps. We took the ones heading back to Ed and Tracy, but once at the top there was no gravel path just off road. Molly said "this way looks like an adventure" (Bill not too sure!). After a few scrambles up some very steep inclines we made it back.
We popped into the art gallery then back to the car.
For a late lunch we went to the Capilano mall and after lunch, if you hadn't guessed by the photo, Molly had her ears pierced. We said she could have it done if she wanted but it must be her decision. She had two girls shoot the studs in both ears at the same time!! She was very apprehensive but the two girls said ready, then Molly had to say ready, then 1,2 and on three they fired. It did take a couple of goes to get to 2!
Although Molly found it painful the pain was soon gone after a trip to Dairy Queen for a chocolate peanut parfait bought by Uncle Bill.
